Om mijzelf en anderen te inspireren, deel ik hier mijn proces van testen en combineren van de diverse glassoorten. Het zijn mijn eigen experimenten, maar als deze voortkomen uit inspiratie door andermans werk of bestaande tutorials zal dit zeker genoemd worden. Van boven naar onder/From top to bottom: Moretti 264 licht ivoor/light ivory, CIM Leaky Pen, CIM Limited edition Tortoise (429), CIM Dirty Martini
Moretti’s light ivoor is één van mijn absolute favorieten. Minder hard dan wit en daarom naar mijn idee een mooie basis om met andere kleuren te combineren. Dat deze glassoort reageert op de metalen in met name blauwe kleuren en zilverglas kan als een nadeel gezien worden. Als je maar als je dit meeneemt in je “ontwerpproces” heeft het zeker ook zijn voordelen. Het geeft door de donkere uitlijning in veel gevallen een extra dimensie aan het lijnenspel.
Moretti’s light ivory is one of my absolute favorites. The colour is less hard than white and therefore a good basis to combine with other colours. The fact that this glass reacts to the metals in especially blue colours and silverglass could be experienced as a disadvantage. However if you take this fact into concideration while using it, it certainly has its advantages. The dark alignment of lines and dots will in many cases intensify the designs.
De combinatie CIM Dirty Martini & Leaky Pen is al een tijdje één van mijn favorieten. De intense blauwkleur van de Leaky Pen gelaagd over de grijsblauwige tint van Dirty Martini geeft een prachtige blauwgrijs die mooi past bij jeanskleuren. De Tortoise leek mij een iets groenere en donkerder versie van de Dirty Martine. Het resultaat is inderdaad veel grijzer en minder helder. De kleur is ook minder consistent, wat te zien is aan de kleurenovergang bij de top van de glasstaaf die niet aanwezig is bij de Dirty Martini.
The combination CIM Dirty Martini & Leaky Pen’s is one of my long time favorites. The intense blue colour of Leaky Pen layered over the Dirty Martini, results in a beautiful blue-gray hue which combines well with jeans colors. The Limited edition Tortoise looked to me like a bit greener and darker version of Dirty Martini. Combining it with Leaky Pen resulted in a less bright greyish colour. Tortoise also is less consistent, as you can see through the halo of colours at the tip of the Tortoise glassrod that Dirty Martini doesn’t have.

Bij de combinatiekraal (middelste kraal op de foto’s) heb ik de basis van ivoor aan de ene zijde voorzien van een deel Dirty Martini en de andere zijde van Tortoise en daarna lijnen gezet met een encased stringer van Tortoise en Leaky Pen. De donkere lijnen op het ivoor aan weerszijde van de stringer is een reactie van het ivoor op de Leaky Pen.
Vervolgens op de stringer bij het kralengat gelaagde stippen gezet van ivoor met Tortoise en ivoor met Dirty Martini, waarbij ik de kleuren precies andersom heb gebruikt als op de basis. De stip ivoor/Dirty Martini heeft door de reactie met Leaky Pen een donkere lijn aan de buitenzijde gekregen. De stip ivoor/Tortoise heeft als reactie een verkleuring van het ivoor naar binnen toe, wat best een grappig effect geeft.
The combination bead (middle bead on pictures) has an ivory base with Dirty Martini on one side and Tortoise on the other, which is decorated with encased stringerwork of Tortoise/Leaky Pen. The dark lines at the ivory on both sides of the stringer is due to a reaction of the ivory on Leaky Pen.
For the next part I layered dots next to the beadholes, ivory with Dirty Martini and ivory with Tortoise opposite to were I used those colours on the base. The dots Ivory/Dirty Martine got a thin line at the outside of the ivory whereas in the ivory/Toroise combination the ivory reacted towards the inside, which I think is a lovely addition.
